Windmill lakes catfish lake is 4 acre lake with 200 cats up to 120lbs and around 400 carp to low 30s. The lake is available for exclusive hire for up to 4 anglers. The is a cabin a short distance from the lake with 3 beds for anglers wanting a bit more comfort.
The lake is long in shape with a long island in the centre of the lake. There are no designated swims and the banks are natural with plenty of grassy bank side areas for setting up and pitching your bivvy. The only area which you are not allowed to fish from is the dam wall.
The lake can comfortably accommodate 4 anglers each with a 3 rod set up.
Like Windmill carp lake, it was dug in the 1970s and is stream fed. The deepest end of the lake is around 6 feet at the dam end, slowly shallowing up to around 2 feet at the opposite end.
The lake bed consists mostly of clay. There is a rowing boat available on site to identify features and drop rigs.
For larger group there is a second 4 acre lake on the same site. The lake holds a good head of carp to 60lbs – click here to view the lake. Both lakes can be booked for a total price of £1700. Please send an enquiry if you would like to book both lakes.

The lake owners supply a range of baits including particles, pellets, pop-ups etc.
It is prohibited to cook on the bank side at Windmill lakes. Therefore all guests are required to purchase the food package.
The food package includes a full English breakfast, with fresh orange juice and unlimited tea and coffee. The evening meal is always a hot dish with a dessert. For example a roast dinner with an apple crumble.
Meals are served either inside or outside the bathroom depending on the weather.
- Never leave rods unattended
- Maximum 4 anglers
- Maximum 3 rods per angler
- No sacking fish
- Rods must be suitable for handling large powerful cats. Carp rods are not suitable
- Tarpaulin and a large flat unhooking mat to be used
- Antiseptic to be applied to hookholds and and wounds
- Leather gloves or catfish type landing nets to be used
- Sharp jewellery on your wrists or hands must be removed
- Minimum 70lbs breaking strain line
- Hooklinks strength must not be greater than 45lbs
- Life jackets to be warn in the boat at all times
- Do not stand for photos
- No shelf life boilies
- Fresh/ frozen boilies only
- Boilies that contain powdered egg are not allowed. Please check the ingredients
- No plastic
- Particles and pellets are permitted but must be supplied by the lake owner
- Keep the gates on the property locked at all times
- Leave the facilities in the condition you found them in
- Arrival no earlier than 2pm on Saturday and departure by 10am the following Saturday
- A 200 Euro refundable deposit is payable on arrival
