Spent 1 week at the end of September into October on the Lake of Villereal Holiday Resort and then returned mid-October because I liked the lake and the challenge it provides. Booked through Dream Carp Holidays on all inclusive package flying in from Stanstead airport.
Managed to land 22 Carp in total from the 2 weeks including 1×50, 6x40s, 3x30s & 5x20s – a very good average.
The Lake is not the easiest, it is in fact quite challenging but the rewards are there to be had as the fish will show themselves regularly giving motivation. If finding underwater features such as sand banks, gravel bars, slopes and plateaus is not the style of fishing… There are margin overhangs and lily pads to fish at or fire out solid bags at showing fish. That said however, it became apparent after many tactical changes over the course of the later trip that the best method I found was putting a large spread of bait out into the lake and waiting, they appeared more confident and kept the shoals of carp interested in that area for longer.
The town is without a doubt on of the most prettiest I’ve visited in France which is a few minutes walk from the lake that contains a tobac, small supermarket and a few bars/restaurants.
Worth a visit, I’ll be back.
