Nestled just outside the charming medieval town of Villeréal in the picturesque southwest of France, this stunning carp fishing destination offers the perfect getaway for anglers. While you can drive to the venue, it’s conveniently located less than 30 minutes from Bergerac Airport, and the owners, Dave and Linda, provide a complimentary airport transfer service. All you need to do is book your flight, and within hours of leaving the UK, you’ll be casting your line into these well-stocked waters!

Spanning 8 acres, the lake offers a rewarding fishing experience with impressive carp catches, all within a well-equipped holiday complex that ensures both comfort and convenience. Optional accommodation is available which is a luxury mobile home just 50m from the lake. The lake and accommodation is completely private, however you will have access to the holiday complex’s swimming pool, bar. restaurant and tennis courts – see the facilities tab for more details.

The Lake & Fishing Details:

This private and secure 8-acre lake features a driveable path to make setting up at your swim hassle-free. It boasts nine designated swims, including four double pegs and one specifically designed for anglers with mobility challenges.

With an average depth of 5-7 feet, the lakebed consists of a mixture of soft mud, clay, drop-offs, and plateaus—prime spots for catching carp. Each swim includes unique features such as lily beds and submerged structures that attract fish. While one section of the bank is off-limits for fishing, anglers can cast toward it.

Like many lakes in southwest France, there is a minor presence of crayfish and poisson chat. However, ongoing management keeps their numbers under control, minimizing any issues for anglers.

Swim Breakdown:

• Swim 1: A single, wheelchair-accessible peg with access to an out-of-bounds bank, lily pads, and light weed patches.
• Swim 2: A double peg offering open water fishing, margin spots, and access to the end of a plateau.
• Swim 3: Another double peg with open water, lily pads, and margin fishing opportunities.
• Swim 4: A single peg in a corner location with excellent margin fishing and a semi-submerged snag tree—a known hotspot for carp.
• Swim 5: A sunny double peg with a variety of fishing options, including lily pads, snags, and open water.
• Swim 6: A single peg providing great margin and open-water fishing.
• Swim 7: A double peg offering access to lily pads, open water, and the plateau’s back.
• Swim 8: A single peg near the entrance to the bay with lily pad access.
• Swim 9: A secluded bay swim reserved for stalking and only available during the day.

The lake, previously a private fishing retreat, boasts a healthy stock of impressive carp. In 2014, additional carp ranging from 20lb to over 50lb were introduced. On an average week, expect to land carp in the mid to high 20lb range, with frequent 30lb and 40lb specimens and the occasional 50lb or even 60lb giant. Other fish species in the lake include black bass (up to 4lb 8oz), bream, and small jack pike.
