We’ve just spent a week at Villereal Carp Fishery, staying in our campervan right beside the lake and fishing just outside the van.
We chose this lake because it has everything you need for a fantastic holiday and fishing trip. The lake itself is absolutely stunning! We managed to catch a 37lb grass carp and a 42lb mirror carp, although we did lose two others.
We only spent a couple of days and nights fishing, as we also wanted to explore the surrounding area. The location is perfect for sightseeing, with Château de Biron just a 10-minute drive away and Monpazier around 20 minutes away.
Dave was very helpful and on hand whenever we needed anything, which made our stay even better.
We also enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch in the onsite restaurant. The food was great, and the desserts were delicious! There’s also a little onsite shop “The English Pantry” which stocks your favourite items from home.
The nearby medieval village is just a short walk away, with restaurants, shops and a supermarket, so everything you need is close by.
All in all, we had a lovely week combining fishing, sightseeing and relaxing. A beautiful lake in a fantastic location, and somewhere we’d happily recommend to anyone looking for a great fishing holiday.
Will definitely return just for the fishing next time as there are much bigger fish to be had.
