Lac des Demoiselles is a mature 2.5-acre carp lake set among established trees in the peaceful countryside of France’s Haute-Vienne region. The lake is home to an impressive stock of beautifully conditioned common and mirror carp to over 60lb and is available exclusively for a maximum of two anglers.
With only two anglers sharing the entire lake, there is plenty of water to explore and no need to compete for productive areas, creating a quiet and uncrowded fishing experience.
Originally created around 35 years ago as a private trout fishery, Lac des Demoiselles was later developed specifically for carp fishing. Considerable work has taken place over the years to shape the lake into the fishery it is today.
The lake has previously been drained, with around 10,000 tonnes of accumulated silt removed along with nuisance fish. The lake bed was reshaped, the dam bank strengthened and additional carp introduced to complement the original stock.
Today, Lac des Demoiselles holds an excellent head of healthy common and mirror carp, including fish to over 60lb and a good spread of impressive carp throughout the stock.
Four well-positioned swims are situated around the lake, allowing both anglers to move between different areas and adapt their approach as the fish move.
Each swim provides enough room for a bivvy and a three-rod set-up. Because the lake is limited to just two anglers, there is plenty of flexibility to change swims, follow showing fish and make the most of different parts of the water throughout the week.
The spring-fed lake offers plenty of variation in depth, ranging from around 1 metre in the shallower areas to approximately 4 metres towards the dam. The lake bed is mainly clay and gravel, with a number of interesting features to locate.
Established water lilies and areas of oxygenating weed can be found around the shallower margins, providing valuable cover and natural habitat for the carp. Spending time watching the water and understanding where the fish are moving can play an important part in getting the best from the lake.
Water quality is excellent and provides a healthy environment in which the carp continue to grow and thrive. Maintaining the condition and quality of the stock remains a priority.
Lac des Demoiselles offers the opportunity to combine quality carp fishing with a relaxing stay in attractive rural surroundings.
For anglers looking for additional comfort, or those travelling with a partner or family, a charming stone gîte is available alongside a private swimming pool. This makes the venue equally suited to a dedicated fishing trip or a more relaxed holiday where everyone can enjoy their time away.
The lake can be booked with or without the gîte.
Guests choosing to fish without the gîte have use of the on-site mobile home, which provides shower, toilet and cooking facilities throughout their stay. More information on both options can be found in the Facilities section.
A maximum of two non-angling guests may accompany the anglers.
The exclusivity is one of the biggest attractions of Lac des Demoiselles. With a maximum of only two anglers fishing the full 2.5-acre lake, there is plenty of room to explore different areas without feeling tied to a particular swim.
Whether you are concentrating on one of the lake’s larger carp, moving around to stay in touch with showing fish or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings, Lac des Demoiselles provides an intimate carp fishing experience in a beautiful part of rural France.
