Lac des Demoiselles is a mature tree lined 2.5 acre lake with a good head of common and mirror carp to 62lbs set in the beautiful countryside of the Haute -Vienne region of France. The lake can be fished by a maximum of 2 anglers at any one time.
There are good quality clean facilities on site to make your stay as comfortable as possible. There is also have a very lovely stone gite and swimming pool which is ideal for bringing your partner.
A maximum of 2 non angling guests are permitted. The lake can be booked with the gite or without the gite. If you are not booking the gite you will have access to the mobile home which has shower and cooking facilities. Please see the facilities tab for more details on the gite and mobile home.
Bookings are Saturday to Saturday
Lac des Demoiselles was dug some 35 years ago and started off as a private trout fishery. However, 15 years later the lake was converted into a carp fishery and a stocking programme was established. The current owners purchased the lake in 2013 and opened it for the first time in 2018. During this time the lake has been drained down with 10,000 tons of silt removed as well as nuisance fish. The lake bed has been remodelled and the dam wall bank reinforced to prevent erosion. The original stock of carp have been supplemented with an additional 17 fish.
There are 8 swims which have been thoughtfully planned to ensure each angler has the opportunity to move around and has ample water coverage. Each swim is comfortable and large enough to accommodate a bivvy and a 3 rod set up. The lake is spring fed and the bottom is made up of clay and gravel.
The depths range from around 1 metre in the shallowest area to 4 meters at the dam end of the lake. The marginal shelf has oxygenating weed and water lilies which provide natural shelter for the carp. As with any lake, paying attention to detail and spending time with the marker rod exploring underneath the surface will pay dividends.
The water quality at Lac des Demoiselles is high which is testament to the stunning carp fishing environment that has been created. The carp are in immaculate condition and see consistent weight gains year on year.
The owners Mark and Yvonne are on site to greet you when you arrive and show you around. They will also be available to offer help and advice to make sure you have a really enjoyable stay.
Fishing
- Maximum of 3 rods per angler
- No braided mainline except for marker and spom rods
- No leadcore
- Minimum of 45cm of anti tangle tubing must be used
- No boats of any kind
- Minimum line strength 12lbs
- Bent hooks are prohibited
- Micro barded hooks only
- Leads must be fished ‘drop off’ style
- Fresh/ Freezer boilies only
- No pellets or nuts -particles can be used in moderation and pellets can be purchased on site
- Carp care kit must be used and hook holds or any wounds to fish treated
- Radio can be used by be respectful of noise levels
- No staling
- Fish from the designated swims only
- Do not sack the fish
- Fish can be placed in a retainer for a maximum of 15 minutes whilst preparing to weigh the fish and take photographs
- Always hold fish over the mats and never stand up when holding the fish
- Keep the fish wet at all times and have a bucket of water ready before you take the fish onto the mats
General
- Drugs are not allowed
- Alcohol in moderation
- No glass beer bottles at the swims. Please drink beer from cans when in the swims
- No litter including cigarette buts
- No fires
- BBQs only in the social areas
- Do not shout across the lake
- Please use the toilet in the caravan
- Please keep the facilities clean and tidy
- Dogs are not allowed
