Lac Baleine – 01 April, 2023

01 April, 2023

This is my 3rd trip to Lac Baleine and I noticed straight away all the hard work that the new owners have been putting in
Most of the snags have been cut out ,including all the snags around the main island and also all the communal areas tidied up
The Baleine team have also treated the water with a weed dye resulting in a lot of the lake being pretty much weed free
They have also purchased a weed cutting boat that is being used to keep on top of any new weed
The fishery looked lovely with the trees starting to come into leaf ; one of my highlights was again seeing the resident Kingfishers
I took my son on this trip and we fished 5 nights as we needed to get back for family commitments over Easter
We managed 7 fish up to 43lb and a mysterious 70lb catfish that we believe has not been caught for at least the last year
Considering we had heavy frosts we were very pleased and saw plenty of fish
This lake is full of surprises and it won’t be long before a 70lb + turns up
It already has 9 known 60lb + fish
It’s a real gem – get there while you can still book weeks – it’s going to be a busy fishery as the years roll on
