Firs Lake is an attractive 2.5-acre exclusive carp lake set in the peaceful Mayenne countryside, between Laval and Vitré. Surrounded by mature trees, it offers a private and relaxed setting for families, couples and small groups, with spacious four-bedroom accommodation positioned just 30 feet from the water.
The lake contains around 90 carp, with fish to over 52lb, along with catfish to over 90lb. There are also koi carp, sturgeon and a small number of predator species present.
The lake has a mainly clay bottom with areas of silt, gravel bars and established feeding spots. Five large gravel double swims are positioned around the water, each offering enough space for two anglers and their bivvies. The whole lake is accessible, giving anglers additional opportunities to stalk fish from quieter areas.
Although the venue can accommodate up to six anglers fishing two rods each, it is best suited to four anglers, giving everyone plenty of water to fish. With comfortable lakeside accommodation, a dipping pool, hot tub and family-friendly facilities, Firs Lake is equally suited to a dedicated fishing group or a family carp fishing holiday.
Things to See and Do Nearby
Nearby attractions include the historic towns of Laval and Vitré, watersports at La Rincerie, the swimming complex at Craon and La Flèche Zoo. Mont-Saint-Michel, the Loire Valley and the Normandy memorial sites are also within reach for a longer day trip.
A selection of venue bait can be ordered and collected on arrival. The published range includes frozen 18mm boilies, pellets, high-attract pellets, freshly cooked maize and wheat particles, pigeon conditioner, pop-ups and liquid dips.
The venue also advertises a combined package containing:

The boilies are prepared locally by an English bait manufacturer, while the venue’s cooked particle mix is soaked and prepared on site.
Mandatory
- Maximum three rods per angler
- Mainline must be at least 18lb breaking strain
- Hooklinks must be at least 35lb
- Use rods of at least 3lb test curve
- Barbless hooks only
- Every rig must include a minimum of 18 inches of tubing
- Use only fish-safe arrangements that cannot trap or tether a fish after a breakage
- Bait boats are allowed
- The rowing boat may be used at the angler’s own responsibility
- Carp over 40lb, all grass carp and catfish over 100lb must be photographed in the water
- Leave the swim, mobile home and surrounding bank clean
- Use the correct bins for general waste, bottles and glass

- No braided mainline except on marker and spod rods
- No leadcore or leaders
- No long-shank, curved or bent hooks
- No fixed, bolt or tethered systems
- No artificial or plastic hookbaits
- No nuts as loose feed or in baited areas
- No outside particle or pellets
- No dumping remaining bait into the lake when leaving
- Rods must never be left unattended
