Etang Rendezvous: 19-08-2023 to 26-08-2023

29 August, 2023

The time was finally here for me and the lads to go fishing, it France, was the choice of venue!
Having been here before and where my previous PB stood I already knew what a special place was hidden behind the gates!
After a long trip approximately 14hr journey we had arrived.
The place looked even more magical than I can remember!
We met with Gareth and Tracey who couldn’t of been nicer hosts!
We did a lap of the lake before we decided which swims we would each occupy for the week.
Dave would take two sheds , next Jack with dead oak, then me and Kai went in windy field!
So we started setting up ready for the week ahead.
The temperature was now rising, making it pretty difficult to set up, we were melting!
By early evening we were all set and chilling under gazebo, with a nice BBQ.
Sunday morning had arrived and Dave had managed to land a new PB @33lb, buzzing.
Next Jacks rod tore off, he was in to his first carp.
After 5 mins of battling his middle rod tore of aswel.
Just as Jack had got the 1st fish to the bank, it took a real big lunge and managed to snap him clean off.
By this time his second take had also managed to escape! Devastated!
No more fish would grace the bank today with temps hitting 35degree plus 🥵
Monday morning had arrived with nothing happening through the night, around 10am my right hand rod burst in to action, after a small battle a prestige carp of 42lb slid into my net. I was off the mark. But not quite big enough to beat my PB of 43lb last time I was here!
I put the rod back on same spot and an hour later had another lump at 37:6lb
Just as I slipped that one back one of Kai’s rods ripped off! After getting the carp halfway in it had managed to get free, devastating! It seemed like a lump!
Now coming in to dinner time the temperature had dramatically risen again making the fishing very difficult! The carp just wasn’t playing ball no more.
Tuesday came and went with no bites all day!
Wednesday had arrived ( where had the time gone)
I decided to change tactics as a fair bit of bait had gone in by this time, so I sent out my rigs with around 5 c food boilies and 5 16mm pellets to each of my spots.
Got my chair positioned behind my rods, waiting for a bite, it didn’t take long and the bobbin on my left gently lifted twice, then slowly dropped down,
Knowing how bait shy the carp had been I gently lifted into it and it tanked off!
All the lads were down at the sheds and not wanting to make any disturbance I played the fish to the bank, around 15feet off the bank I saw the fish come to the top and it looked real long!
I was shaking now as the nerves kicked in, I just had to land this fish! After another 5mins of intense fighting I’d managed to slid over the net!
As I looked into the net, I knew I had a new PB it looked MASSIVE and I was a shaking mess 😂.
I shouted the boys and they came up to check out what I’d captured. We slid the weighing sling under the net and lifted the fish to the cradle ( was a 2 man lift). We lifted it on to the scales and 🤩 63lb of French carp! Buzzing! after taking plenty of shots in and out of the lake, off it swam
As the temperatures rosé again in the afternoon no more carp were caught!
Thursday was here with Kai and Jack yet to catch, with the horrendous heat we had it had been a real struggle and only 4 fish out to this point, the weather seemed to be taking a turn and we endured some heavy rain and thunderstorms.
We were all buzzing hoping the carp would finally switch on.
As the morning went on Dave lost one, then the fish seemed to be making there way to deeper water,
Jack was finally in! We heard a big cheer and all ran to jacks swim!
Once we had weighed it and confirmed Jack had a new pb 33lb! He was buzzing his 1st French carp!
Next it was me in action again landing a 23lb leather carp!
Then finally it was Kai’s turn landing a 27lb common
Not a new PB but was grateful to finally land a cracking French common!
Friday arrived and was very over cast Dave had few runs through the night and even lost the albino cat fish close in,
finally
Dave was in another 30 had graced his net weighing 31lb after few water shots back it went!
Few hours later I landed my 5th fish weighing in at 13lb stunning common and was quite for rest of the day!
As are last night drew in I’d started packing away some of the stuff I wasn’t using ready for are departure in the morning! And was awake late, I sent the rods out to my spots one last time this time using the remaining bait which I coated with a small bottle of betananna glug!
4am Jack comes to wake me! He’s got a lump
New PB 44lb buzzing
Just as my head hit the pillow again my rod screamed off with another common of 28:8lb
I re sent the rod to my spot and went back to bed
Around 8:30am Jack informed me my line was in his swim. So I picked up the rod and I was indeed in capping off my session with my 7th fish weighing a respectable 37lb
A total of 15 fish were landed between us on a very tough hot week!
All of my fish were caught using Cfood mixed sized boilies/ dumbbells coated in Cfood glug and 16mm pellets soaked in Cfood oil.
With a pink floral Cfood wafter on the rig!
Amazing venue can’t wait to get back 2025
