Etang Rendezvous is a 12 acre lake located in Chateauroux in Central France. As of 2023, there are around 300 mature carp up to in excess of 80lbs.The lake record is currently 80lbs 4oz (May 2023), one of 3 fish over 70lbs in addition to a good head of 60, 50 and 40 lb fish.
It is 6 hours from Calais or 4 hours from St Malo if you wish to take the overnight ferry from Portsmouth. The lake is completely secure and gated ad offers all the amenities you would need for a week long stay. It is 12 acres in size and is surrounded by mature trees, shrubs and reed beds and set in 17 acres of private land. There are no immediate neighbours, nor is there a road in sight.
The lake is available for exclusive hire only and can be fished by up to a maximum of 5 anglers. It is limited to 5 anglers to ensure that the fish are not too pressured. As a result the fish are very catchable with the right tactics and you will not sit behind static rods for long. There are 11 swims around the lake which gives each angler the opportunity to move. Each swim has a power supply for charging batteries etc.
Depths range from 9ft at the dam end to around 2ft in the shallows. The lake bottom is mainly silt with gravel areas in the margins and shallows. Branches beneath the surface of the water have been removed to ensure the lake is as snag free as possible. Night fishing is allowed and no permits are required. The lake bailiff is on hand for assistance or advice should you require it. All sides of the lake are fishable and there is ample water coverage for each angler using a 3 rod set up.
Etang Rendezvous was first dug in 1941 and was originally a shooting venue. Surrounded by acres of beautiful countryside and surrounded by nature it is the perfect location for anglers looking for peace and quiet. The lake became a fishery in 2002 and was acquired by its current owners Keith and Gareth in 2015. As of 2023 there are at least 3 carp over 70lbs and a very good head of 60s, 50s and 40s. Bait boats are permitted to be used on the lake but are not critical as all areas are within casting distance.
Bookings are Saturday to Saturday – arrival no earlier than 2pm and depart by 10am the following Saturday.
Bedchairs – Mammoth bedchair with 8 adjustable legs and memory foam mattress – £35 per week
A range of bait is available to be pre ordered and purchased at the lake.
Boilies – Starbaits Signal boilies £9 per kg
Cooked Maize – £25 per 20kg
Pellets – £35 per 12.5kg sack or £55 per 25kg sack
Hemp – £14 per 2.5 litres

- Maximum 3 rods per angler
- Never leave rods unattended
- Barbless hooks only
- No plastic hookbaits
- Do not move fish in or out of the stock pond
- Minimum 42 inch landing nets. The bailiff will dip all nets for you upon arrival.
- No braided mainline apart from marker and spomb rods
- Minimum 15lb line
- Fish from the designated swims
- Rod pods are required due to the hardness of the ground and in some swims which have been astro-turfed.
- Fish safe, semi fixed or running lead rigs only
- Use a carp care kit to treat mouth hook holds or any other fish damage
- Do not bring your own mats or slugs, these are provided
- Use the slings to carry all fish the cradles
- Ensure the fish are kept out of water for the minimum amount of time and keep them wet at all times
- Always kneel for photos
- If you catch the albino catfish use the cat mat provided
- Do not retain fish in slings or sacks at any time
- Only particles which are in shop bought and unopened are permitted, otherwise particle must be bought on site
- All types of nuts are prohibited
- If you use the rowing boat which is on the lake, a life jacket must be warn at all times
- Do not cut bankside vegetation
- Dogs are permitted with prior permission agreed by the lake owners
- Keep swims clean and tidy and put litter in the bins provided
- Use the toilets provided
- If using the gas cooker or microwave do not leave them unattended
- Leave the cabins tidy
- Excessive alcohol or anti social behaviour will not be tolerated
- Park in the designated parking area
