Etang la Cour is a mature 15 acre lake which has an exceptional stock of carp to 60lbs and an average weight over 40lbs. Located in the department of Cher in the Centre Val de Loire, approximately 5 hours from Calais, Etang la Cour is surrounded by countryside and set within 22 acres of private grounds.
The lake was purchased by owners Alan and Shelley in 2011 and was stocked with 250 carp. There was an existing stock of carp in the lake and whilst the lake has never been netted it is estimated that there are between 280 to 300 carp.
Up until 2024, the lake has only been fished about 6 weeks of the year and coupled with Alan’s feeding programme the carp has packed on the weight with a current average size a massive 44lbs.
The lake is accessible on three sides and there are 11 swims which have been thoughtfully positioned. Each swim has picnic bench and ample room for a bivvy. A maximum of 6 anglers can fish the lake which ensures every angler has plenty of water to fish to as well as the opportunity to move swims.
Depths range from 3 feet down to around 13 feet in the deepest areas. There is generally very limited weed with the bottom being a mixture of silt and gravel.
All swims can be accessed by car and there is a car park next to the anglers club house.
Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday
Landing nets, mats and weigh slings are supplied free of charge
No braided mainline
Line to be a minimum of 15lb
Barbless hooks Rigs will be checked
Bait boats are not permitted nor are rowing boats. Most of the fish are caught from the margins however so a boat is not usually required
No sacking of fish at any time
Landing nets and unhooking mats will be supplied free of charge.
Proper carp care treatment must be used on all fish.
No particle baits and only pellets bought onsite to be used.
No fires or BBQs permitted
Swims to be kept litter free…..recycling bins onsite.
