Etang de Janine – 19 July, 2025

28 July, 2025

Well, where do we start.. after months and months of waiting for our annual trip to France the time had finally arrived.

We was to travel down to the rural settings of Etang De Janine, on our arrival the lake & its surrounding areas are just breath taking.

We were warmly welcomed by Dave & his dog Magic.

Rather than just leaving us to it like most, Dave took the time to walk us around the lake and made a point of stopping in each swim, pointing out certain features and the do’s & dont’s.

After Dave had left our small group had hatched a plan, that was to cover as much water as we could and my gosh did it pay off.

“The Lodge Bank” as we called it produced day in day out, night in night out, with sleepless nights and our buzzers going into meltdown it was certainly going to be a trip we’d remember.

We finished the week on The Lodge Bank with a total of 70 carp landed, excluding Tench, Catfish, Bream.

With well over 85 takes, we’d also lost between 8/10 which is part and parcel of the game, our biggest from that bank was a beautiful 55lb Common which was also a New Personal best for one of our group members.

Whilst another Member had opted for “The Grass Bank” he started the week slow, but eventually he unlocked the code and finished the week on a respectable 12 or so fish with his biggest being a 48lb Common.

Our last Member who loves close quarters fishing, decided to put himself in one of the corners of the lake. He managed to pluck out one fish every day with his biggest being a 38lber.

Dave kept in contact throughout the week, making sure everything was ok and if we needed anything.

The amenities there are more than adequate for what you will all need, you are fishing.. you are not booking a 5* all inclusive holiday.

We highly recommend the lake for anyone looking for a tranquil weeks fishing away.

All supermarkets, tobac, restaurants and bars are all within a few miles of the lake, so if you forgot something there’s no stress as everything you need is just a stone throw away.

We will certainly keep in contact with Dave as he’s a top bloke and we’d like to keep an eye on this lake as it’s possible we will be making a return.

But for now, thank you Dave, you and your lake are exceptional.

We hope to see you again soon!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND
