Fishing Rules & Regulations

To ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable fishing experience for all, please adhere to the following rules:

Vehicle Access & Movement

• Only vehicles belonging to guests staying in the Fisherman’s Cottage are permitted to use the fishing road between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
• Please avoid unnecessary trips—if not required, park at the estate entrance.

Fishing Guidelines

• Fishing from the designated swims
• No-Kill fishing only – all fish must be safely returned to the water.
• Live bait and lure fishing are strictly forbidden.

Baiting & Equipment Use

• Radio-controlled boats are allowed.
• Bait rockets and personal boats with electric motors are permitted.
• Wearing a personal life jacket is mandatory when on the water or in a boat.
• The estate’s boat is strictly for professional use and is not available to guests or visitors.

Rod Limits & Tackle Regulations

• Maximum of 3 rods per angler
• Braided mainlines and leaders are banned, as are nylon lines thinner than 30/100 or thicker than 40/100.
• Lead-core is not permitted – only rigs that allow the lead to be released in case of breakage are allowed.
• A random rig check will be conducted during your stay.

Fish Care & Handling

• All fish must be handled using a weigh bag between the lake and the mat—never in your arms.
• Mandatory use of provided fish care equipment (weigh bags, landing mats, and nets) to prevent disease.
• Seeds are prohibited – only boilies, pellets, and roasted seeds from our shop or natural products free from additives and preservatives are allowed.
• Keep fish wet at all times and return them to the water as quickly as possible.
• Only the angler may appear in the photo with their catch.
• All fish must be photographed at knee level only, ensuring both the fish and mat are moistened.
• Storage bags, including floating ones, are strictly forbidden – failure to comply will result in immediate exclusion.
• A special fish disinfectant must be used on hook wounds or any injuries.
• Marking or harming fish in any way is strictly prohibited.

Behaviour & Site Etiquette

• Anglers must remain near their rods at all times when lines are in the water.
• Swimming is strictly prohibited.
• Minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
• Dogs must be on a lead outside fenced areas and under supervision at all times—owners must clean up after their pets.
• No refunds, postponements, or credits will be issued for early departures.
• Drunkenness and drug use will result in immediate expulsion without refund.
• Defecating anywhere outside designated facilities is strictly forbidden.

Respect for the Environment

• Do not damage vegetation.
• Fires are not allowed on the ground – gas stoves and above-ground BBQs are permitted.
• Keep noise levels to a minimum.
• Dispose of all rubbish in the bins provided.
• Cigarette butts must not be thrown on the ground.
• Your fishing area must be left spotless upon departure, or your security deposit will be withheld.

Waste Management & Sanitation

• Recycling bins are provided for glass, plastic, and general waste—please sort your rubbish accordingly.
• Our accommodation uses individual septic tanks—to prevent damage, the following items must not be flushed:
  • Bleach
  • Solvents
  • Antibiotics
  • Tampons or sanitary pads

Security Deposit

• A €300 deposit per gîte and a €200 deposit for fishing equipment will be required upon arrival. These are not cashed and will be returned at departure, provided all rules have been followed.
