Visited Clay Lakes with my wife for one week, starting March 31st 2024.
We booked online after reading some reviews and found the lake to be fairly priced for a drive and survive lake.
What to say about the week, well the weather was not the best, however that did not stop us pulling out 11 fish between us, ranging between 17 and 42lb. Which I think had we seen warmer weather would have been much more.
The onsite cabin, with UK power, functional oven/hob, fridge/freezer and toilet (with working hot shower) was a huge bonus! Considering this was drive and survive.
And the cherry on top, the owner (Alan) what an absolute top bloke he is, kept our spirits high in the glum weather with plenty of banter, gave some great advice on rigs, best spots etc…. and genuinely was just a pleasure to be around during our trip!
All in all, I’d highly recommend this place, consider that me and my wife are not advanced anglers, and got all the help we needed, still caught a bunch of decent fish, a few new PB’s and was well entertained.
Thank you Alan for hosting us, see you next year!!! (In the summer though 😉)
