Brothers Lake is a family run 5.5 acre drive and survive lake set in the stunning countryside in Limousin, central west France. There are 150 carp in the lake and as of 2022 with the lake record a massive 68lbs. This is no shortage of large back up fish, with at least five 50lb plus fish and over thirty carp over the 40lbs mark.
The lake was originally dug out in the 1950s and is fed by a natural spring. In 2014 the current owners purchased the lake. All nuisance species were removed and it was stocked with 150 carp. These carp were fed on a high quality diet and did not see any angling pressure until 2019, the first season the lake opened to anglers.
5 swims have been created and each swim is large enough to comfortably accommodate a bivvy. A maximum of 4 anglers can fish the lake which ensures each angler has plenty of water coverage for a 3 rod set up.
Brothers Lake is by no means an easy lake, however for anglers that put the effort in the rewards are there. If you are stealthy enough the carp can be caught just a few feet from the bank. Day time stalking with a single rod finding fish in the margins, is nothing short of exhilarating.
The bottom of the lake consists of a mixture of clay and sand, with pockets of silt. At the dam end of the lake depths go down to 12 feet. The banks of the lake are lined with mature trees and shrubs including willows, birches, piners, common and Italian alders, iris, broom and purple-loosestrife. Situated in a conservation area, the lake is surrounded by an abundance of wildlife including red squirrels, wild boar, pine martins and ospreys.
