France’s rivers and public lakes contain some truly magical and monstrous carp to well over 70lbs.
Unlike many commercial lakes where the stock is well known, fishing public waters creates increased excitement of the unknown as you begin your adventure. Will it be lean hard fighting fully scaled mid 20lber in pristine condition that has never been caught before, or will be the queen of the river or pond.
Wild Carp Fishing is run by Paul, who after successfully running a commercial French fishery, is now an expert guide taking anglers on the River Vienne and public lakes in the Limoges region of south west France.
Paul has lived in south west France for the last 24 years and knows the rivers and lakes exceptionally well.
Optional accommodation which can sleep up to 6 guests and is located 10 miles away from the river Vienne is available. Please see the facilities tab for details. The accommodation is £500 per week or £72 per night for bookings which are more of less than 7 days.
River Vienne
The river Vienne is a very long river, the area that Paul will take anglers to is a 40km strength that runs through departments 87, 16 and 86. Carp have been caught to over 70lbs and catfish to a gigantic 260lbs! Paul has an incredible knowledge of the river, the areas which produce big carp and cats depending on your preference, as well as the stretches where night fishing is permitted.
Public Lakes
There is an abundance of public lakes in the area which hold some very large carp. Whether you are a single angler, or a larger group, there are plenty of waters offering night fishing to choose from.
Licences
Your public fishing licences (Carte de Pêche) will be arranged for you prior to your arrival.
Tackle is available to be hired, however if you are bringing your own tackle Paul will provide advice prior to trip on what is required, which for river fishing is generally a beefier set up than what would usually be used on a lake due to the power and speed of the fish.
Bookings are available for groups of up a maximum of 4 anglers.
A fly and fish package is available with collection from Limoges airport if you want to avoid the long drive. Please refer to the ‘tackle hire’ tab.
Standard bookings run Saturday to Saturday, however bespoke packages are available, for example 5 days or 10 days. Please send an enquiry for details.
Tackle is available to be hired which includes:
- 3 rod set up
- Bivvy
- Bedchair
- Unhooking mats
- Weigh slings
- Rod pod
Anglers will need to bring reels, alarms and terminal tackle
Bait can be purchased from Wild Carp Fishing or you can bring your own bait.
A food package which includes a cooked breakfast and evening meal which will be delivered to your swim is available
- No retaining fish – FOR ANY REASON
- All fish must be released and returned to the water as quickly as possible with the utmost care. Buckets and lake/river water should be available to keep fish wet while out of the water.
- Do not leave rods unattended when your line is in the water – AT ANY TIME
- Please responsibly dispose of all litter, including cigarette butts and tea bags – do not leave rubbish in your swim. Recycling bags and containers will be provided.
- You must have Klin-Ik first aid for fish (or a similar brand) to treat all hook wounds on the unhooking mat AT ALL TIMES.
- Main line should be no less than 20lbs.
- When fishing for cats, the minimum breaking strain is 60lbs.
- A maximum of three rods per angler is allowed.
- Bait boats should be used with caution and at your own risk.
- Please remember that open water can be hazardous – it’s your responsibility to have your own life jacket if needed.
- No intoxicated, aggressive, excessively loud, or unsafe behavior will be tolerated under any circumstances. We reserve the right to end your stay without refund.
