The following weeks in 2024 are now available at the a discounted price of £550 per person for fly and fish which includes tackle hire, food package and airport collection – 30th March, 13th April, 13th July, 20th July, 17th August.
Etang Rouge is an intimate and mature lake of 2.5 acres in size which holds some very large carp to 68lbs. Please note that all prices include the food package.
Located in south west France in the Dordogne region, Etang Rouge offers an all inclusive ‘fly and fish’ package, which includes airport collection, a 3 rod set up including bivvy and bedchair as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner. Collection is from Limoges or Brive airports, or local train stations if agreed.
There are 4 swims on the lake for up to 3 anglers to chose from, however 4 anglers can be considered, however please enquire first before booking. For the 2023 season there is a 2 berth caravan set back behind swim 1 which can be fished from. The caravan can be booked for a small additional fee and is ideal for anglers wanting a bit more comfort or if you are taking partner. See the facilities tab for more details on the caravan.
The lake can be dated back to pre-Napoleonic times and is surrounded by mature trees, shrubs and bankside vegetation. Set within 16 acres it is well off the beaten track, offering anglers pure tranquillity and superb carp fishing. Whilst you wait for your buzzer to scream you may see deer, badgers, coypu, gennet (wild cat), pine martin, osprey, buzzards and even wild boar!
The lake owners Jeff and Shan have worked incredibly hard to produce this superb fishery. The lake is not over stocked and with an optimal water biomass, the conditions are perfect for growing big carp. The carp which have been stocked include silver and dark commons and mirrors which were hand picked from a very reputable French fish farmer.
The average carp size was 36lbs, 12 carp over 40, 5 50s and 3 over 60lbs, with the lake record a huge common, Boris of 68lbs! To see full details of the fish stock, click on the ‘fish stock’ tab. The lake is not a runs water, but by no means hard with the right tactics.
As well as superb fishing, the facilities are of an excellent standard. Jeff and Shan will be on hand to help as much or as little as you like to ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable time at Etang Rouge.

A full 3 rod set up is included in the price. All of the tackle is ‘high end’ and kept in very good condition. A breakdown of what is included is below:

Bait is supplied by the lake owners which is very reasonably priced. Only the bait supplied by the lake owner with no exceptions.

Cooked breakfast with tea or coffee delivered to your swim or served in Anglers Rest
Fresh lunch time baguette with a choice of fillings

On Thursday night there is a BBQ with amazing local meats including steak, duck, pork and chicken (subject to availability) all served with salad, and fresh bread.
The lake owners are more than happy to go to the shops to get essentials including cases of beer and wine.
- Arrival not before 2.30pm and departure by 10am the following Saturday
- Recreational drugs are prohibited
- Alcohol consumption should be in moderation
- Use the recycling bin provided at the Anglers Rest
- No litter including cigarette butts
- Fires are prohibited
- Use the toilets provided. Anyone found using the surrounding land as a toilet will be asked to leave immediately with no refund
- Keep the facilities clean and tidy as found on arrival
- Be respectful of the surroundings and other anglers
- Keep noise levels to a minimum. Antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated
- No dogs
- Anglers must have valid travel insurance
- Maximum 3 rods per angler
- Use the cradles and mats provided to unhook and weigh fish
- Fish safe rigs only, no fixed leads
- Microbarbed hooks only – no barbless hooks
- Never leave rods unattended
- Minimum breaking strength line 18lbs
- No braided mainline
- No braided or leadcore leaders – the fishery asks anglers to use PB hit n run safe leaders
- Use a carp care kit to treat hookholds and any fish wounds
- All anglers must use the fisheries own bait
- The fishery boat is not for use by the anglers
- Stalking with 1 rod is permitted providing it does not encroach on other anglers fishing and your other rods are wound in
- No sacking fish
- Fish can be retained in the floatation retainers for a maximum of ten minutes whilst awaiting the fishery staff to attend your swim and assist with weighing/photos taken
- Notify the fishery owners of any carp over 40lbs for the purpose of recording. This is regardless of the time of day or night
- Anglers must be kneeling for all photos
- Keep the carp hydrated at all times and have camera and weighing equipment ready for when the fish is removed from the water Any carp weighing 40lb+ must be unhooked and weighed in the water directly in front of the swim. Fishery will provide generic sized waders for this purpose.
