Willow Lake

Willow lake is located in the Loire Valley in close proximity to the town of Craon. The lake is 2 hours drive from the ferry port of St Malo or 2 hours 30 mins from Caen. The lake is available for exclusive hire only and includes a 2 bedroom lakeside chalet can sleep up to 6 as well as a swimming pool.

It is a picturesque 2 acre lake surrounded by 8 acres of meadows. There are good head of carp to 50lbs with the average size as of 2022 being 30lbs. The lakes owners estimate that as of 2022 there are between 14 to 16 carp over 40lbs. The The lake is spring fed and dammed at one end.

The dam end is the deepest part of the lake with depths of around ten feet graduating to around four feet at the house end of the lake. The lake if surrounded by mature willow trees, silver birch, other shrubs and iris reeds giving plenty of cover for both anglers and fish.

The lake is divided into four swims and ideally suited to three anglers each with a 3 rod set up. The lake was de silted in 2002 and also virtually snag free thanks to the fishery owner. The lake bed is a mixture of gravel, sand and some silt at the shallower end so don’t forget to pack your marker rod for some underwater feature finding.

The swims have been designed to be comfortable for a bivvy and are gravel based. There is a small rowing boat available for anglers to use ‘at your own risk’.
