Willow lake is located in the Loire Valley in close proximity to the town of Craon. The lake is 2 hours drive from the ferry port of St Malo or 2 hours 30 mins from Caen.

It is a picturesque 2 acre lake surrounded by 8 acres of meadows. The lake is spring fed and dammed at one. The dam end is the deepest part of the lake with depths of around ten feet graduating to around four feet at the house end of the lake. The lake if surrounded by mature willow trees, silver birch, other shrubs and iris reeds giving plenty of cover for both anglers and fish.

The lake is divided into four swims and ideally suited to three anglers each with a 3 rod set up. The lake was de silted in 2002 and also virtually snag free thanks to the fishery owner. The lake bed is a mixture of gravel, sand and some silt at the shallower end so don’t forget to pack your marker rod for some underwater feature finding.

The swims have been designed to be comfortable for a bivvy and are gravel based. There is a small rowing boat available for anglers to use ‘at your own risk’.

The lake was drained and desilted in 2002. At the same time silver fish were removed and the lake bed was limed and the lake was refilled.

In Winter 2002, forty five carp between 16lb and 28lbs were stocked and 5 carp between 29lb to 33lb. In 2003, a further thirty-nine carp to 28lbs were stocked in addition to 9 grass carp to 25lb. Some pike were added to keep down the numbers of smaller fish. Throughout the winter the fish stock are fed on pellets to maintain their growth.

In 2005 a further 8 carp were stocked ranging from 35lbs to 42lbs. In addition, 15 catfish were stocked and many smaller carp removed.

All fish have continued to grow rapidly and as of 2016 the lake holds at least 8 known carp (mirrors and commons) in excess of 40lbs up to 52lbs, 35 carp over 30lbs, approximately forty 20 pounders and catfish to over 75lbs!

The accommodation comprises of a beautiful stone built longere which sleeps six people and was refurbished and renovated in 2002. Inside the accommodation is lined with floor tiles throughout and has many character features such as original wooden beams and a large Breton style fireplace.

There are three bedrooms, one of which is en-suite and there other 2 being twin rooms making it ideal for a family holiday. There is also a separate bathroom. Quilts and bed linen is provided but you will need to bring your own towels.

There is a spacious dinning area and kitchen which includes a cooker, microwave, washing machine, fridge, freezer as well as standard cooking utensils. Patio doors open out onto a decked area overlooking the lake.

There is a large pine farmhouse dining table, a three piece leather suite, tv, music system and even a pool table if you fancy a break from the fishing!

Outside a barbeque is provided along with garden furniture so that you can relax and enjoy the surrounding and weather.

The fishery owner stocks mainline Cell boilies and a selection of Dynamite Baits including pellets and seeds, all of which can be pre ordered.

Barbed or micro-barbed hooks only

Minimum 15lb line is recommended
