If you are looking for runs water with plenty of action then look no further than Rushes lake. This 10 acre lake holds 800 carp to 50lbs with and the average weekly catch rate is usually between 200 and 250 carp!!
Located to the west of Le Mans, this picturesque lake is easy to access from the major ferry ports and is around 2 hours from Caen or St Malo and 4 and a half hours from Calais. It can be booked exclusively for up to 8 anglers or booked per angler.
Rushes lake is situated within 17 acres of private woodland and beyond this farmland, ensuring complete peace and tranquillity for your stay. Sit back, listen to the birds sing and take in the beauty of the surroundings whilst you wait for your buzzer to scream off!
As of 2022 the average size around 30lbs with the current lake record 49lbs.
Swims
There are 9 swims which have been strategically positioned around the lake. Each swim has plenty of features to fish to and adequate water coverage for a 3 rod set up.
Rushes lake offers high quality facilities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Each swim is graveled and as of 2023 will have a wifi connection. The majority of swims have purpose built huts which have power, lighting, fridges, kettles and room to store your gear.
The car park is completely secured and has 24 hours CCVT. There is no need to take your barrow as these are offered free of charge.
If you are taking your partner or don’t want to night fish there is a self contained lodge with a double bed and its own bathroom.

Cradles and slings a are provided free of charge
Only rushes bait can be used on the lake. This is to ensure only high quality fresh boats are used.
An exception is made to bring your own bait mixes for PVA bag fishing and you can bring your own hookbaits.
Fresh boilies, particle mix and pellets (which the fish are fed on the winter months) are supplied at very reasonable prices.

The food package is highly recommended and includes breakfast delivered to your swim and evening meal served from the covered terrace overlooking the lake.
All the food is cooked with fresh ingredients. There is no packet food.
- 50 Euros refundable deposit per angler upon arrival
- Only bait purchased from Rushes lake to be used
- Maximum 3 rods per angler
- Respect the nature and vegetation
- Leave the toilets and shower in a clean condition
- Leave the huts in the swims clean and tidy
- All rubbish to be brought to the house car park
- Use the bin liners provided, do not put rubbish directly into the bins
- Drink in moderation
- No drugs
- No fires, BBQs or fire pits
- All vehicles to parked in the car park after unloading
- Arrival no earlier than 1pm and departure the following Saturday by 10am
- Unhooking mats and slings are provided by Rushes lake and must be used
- Use a carp care kit to treat hookholds or any fish wounds
- No carp sacks
- No leaders or leadcore of any kind
- Barbless hooks only
- No 360 type rigs
- No long or curved shank hooks
- No braided mainlines with the exception of marker/ spomb rods
- No shock leaders including mono and florocarbon shock leaders
- Minimum line strength 0.40mm in diameter
- If you are zig fishing the hooklink must be minimum 0.30mm in diameter
- Fish safe rigs only with leads fished drop off style
- Take care when lifting carp out the lake. Ensure their fins are tucked in and keep them wet once on the bank
- Bait boats are permitted
- There is a rowing boat available to be used for baiting up. Life jackets are to be worn at all times
- Marker poles are available
- No fishing from the dam wall
- Swimming is prohibited
