Oak View Lake: 26-09-2026 to 03-10-2026

10 October, 2026

We arrived 26th September at Oakview. A very peaceful and serene lake.

Our accommodation was a gite. It was extremely clean and was a home from home.

It came complete with a cooker with 4 cooking rings and an oven. There was a microwave, airfryer, toaster and even a slow cooker.
A comfy living area provided wind down time in the evening.
2 bedrooms with bedding provided, and comfortable beds.

We ate breakfast in the dining area, but enjoyed our lunch and evening meal outside under the pergola.

The lake is a decent size and has plenty of carp. But given the weather being hot in the day and cold at night we only managed 4 catches each. However, my wife was extremely elated to have raised her PB from 36lb 4oz to 37lb 12oz.

Our (English) hosts, Harry & Izzy were extremely helpful and on hand when we needed them.

They gave us space to enjoy our fishing, but popped down for a visit every other day just for a catch up.

They are very warm and friendly and made our stay fantastic.

I needed help with a mechanic as the battery on my car died.
Harry’s mum, Sharon came down with jump leads and told me she would arrange something with the local, trustworthy mechanic.
An appointment was arranged for the next day.
Thank goodness for Google translate as he didn’t speak any English.

We are coming back to Oakview early September 2028.
