Tucked away in the serene countryside of Ruillé-Froid-Fonds, just a 20-minute drive from Laval, Oakview Lake is 2.75 acre in size with an impressive carp stock to over 50lbs and an average size of between 35 to 40lbs. The lake is only a 2 hour drive from Caen ferry port.
Set back just metres from the lake is a fully equipped chalet which sleep up to 6 people making this venue ideal for both anglers and non anglers.
The lake can comfortably accommodate 3 anglers. There are four designated swims which consist of a large double swim, located near the chalet, providing an excellent vantage point over the entire lake. This spot allows two anglers to fish a vast portion of the water.
There are three spacious single swims, positioned at the far end of the lake—one in each corner and one situated behind the island.
With accessible margins around the lake, anglers can take advantage of stalking opportunities beneath the overhanging trees. The central island can is within fishing distance of all 4 swims meaning there are plenty of features to fish to.
Lake depths range from 3ft to 6ft, with a firm, silty bottom interspersed with gravel patches.
Since 2008, Oakview Lake has been a successful fishery, attracting anglers who appreciate the fishing and the beauty of the surroundings.
Bookings are Saturday to Saturday
For groups of 4 or more there is an additional fee on £150 per person
Oakview Lake provides essential tackle hire:
- Nash carp cradles and Fox weigh slings are available free of charge.
- Additional tackle, including bait boats, bedchairs, and bivvies, can be rented at an extra cost (a full hire list is provided upon booking confirmation).
- A range of boilies, pellets, particles, hook baits, and glugs is available on-site.
- From 2025, we will be stocking Sticky Baits and CC Moore products at competitive prices.
- A pre-order bait form will be provided upon booking confirmation to ensure your preferred bait is ready when you arrive.
For added convenience, we offer a customisable food package, which includes:
- A full English breakfast or a breakfast bap.
- Evening meal options tailored to your preference.
A detailed menu will be sent upon booking confirmation.
- Check-in: 4pm | Check-out: 10am.
- Maximum of three rods per angler.
- Rods must never be left unattended when lines are in the water.
- No sacking or retaining of fish.
- Carp cots and weigh slings must be used (provided on-site) to prevent cross-contamination.
- Landing nets must be disinfected before use.
- Carp care antiseptic must be applied to hook wounds after every catch.
- Minimum mainline strength: 15lb mono (no braided mainlines or bent hook rigs).
- No fixed leads allowed.
- At least 60cm of tubing, safe zone leader, or thick mono/fluorocarbon leader must be used at all times.
- Micro-barbed or barbless hooks only.
- No nuts of any kind are permitted.
- All pellets and particles must be purchased on-site.
- Boilies may be brought from home, but only recognised branded products with clear ingredient listings are allowed.
- No swimming in the lake and no tampering with life buoys (these are in place for safety).
- Open fires are strictly prohibited.
- We reserve the right to inspect all fishing tackle.
- Bait boats are permitted.
