Les Croix – 26 October, 2019

30 June, 2020

Jim’s first week has been one of the best of the year. With a total of 26 fish caught, it is the second highest number of fish caught in 2019, and just two fish short of John Sullivan’s catch in September.

Conditions have to be right to be in with a chance of catching this number of fish, but any angling situation is about making the most of what is presented.

The catch was made up with 2 singles, 4 doubles, 1 x 20, 8 x 30’s, 7 x 40’s, 1 x 50, and 3 x 60’s !

Jim has used a boilie only approach, and has used 8kg of liver sausage and 3kg of smokey mackerel boilies, along with a different fishing strategy, fishing within 40 yards of the bank and encouraging the fish to come closer rather than fishing long, which can have the effect of pushing the carp tight into the far bank and the dam wall.

With high pressure conditions now installed over Europe, the second week of Jim’s fortnight will probably prove much more challenging, but I’m sure that we will see a few more fish on the mat, and after a week like this one, any more fish can only be seen as a bonus !
