Les Basses Berthieres is located in north west France about an hour from Le Mans and offers exclusive carp fishing with accommodation which can sleep up to 6. The lake is ideal for anglers of all abilities. To view photos of the accommodation click on the facilities tab and the images will appear above the facilities description text.
The accommodation, which has wifi, is of a high standard making this a perfect venue for a family holiday or for those anglers wanting a bit more comfort. It is around a 2 hour drive from the ferry ports of Caen or St Malo.
The lake is around 3 acres in size and was dug in the 1980s. It can be fished by up to 4 anglers and has around 120 carp to 50lbs. As of 2022 there are around 25 to 30 carp over 40lbs, a big head of 30s with the remaining carp over 20lbs.
Surrounded by mature trees, bushes and reeds with an island at one end, this spring fed lake is set in 15 acres of private countryside providing sublime tranquil surroundings. The lake bed consists of soft mud with silt pockets and gravel patches. Depths range from 3 feet in the shallowest areas down to around 11ft in the deepest parts.
The water quality is superb and the lake contains a lot of natural food. In addition to the natural food, the carp have been fed on a high protein pellet and boilie diet which has resulted in consistent weight gains season after season.
Bookings run from Saturday to Saturday
A £200 refundable breakages deposit is required to be paid when the final balance for the holiday is due.
There is a 50 euro fee for electricity usage for the months of April and October.
Landing nets, unhooking mats, cradles and weigh slings are provided free of charge
Bait boats can be hired for 70 Euros per week. If 2 anglers are using the bait boat the price is 90 Euros. The boat must be returned in the condition it is hired in to avoid additional charges.
Bedchairs – 15 Euros per week
House boilies including pop-ups, wafters and paste as well as pellets can be purchased from the lake owner. Please order in advance.
- 3 rods per angler
- Never leave rods unattended
- Minimum 15lb line strength
- No braided mainline
- Leadcore leaders are not allowed
- Minimum 30 inches of rig tubing to be used
- No fixed leads, fish safe leads only
- Keep fish out the water for as little time as possible
- Sacking fish is prohibited
- Kneel for photos with the fish
- ALso keep the carp on the mat or held above the mat for photos
- Carp care kit must be used to treat hookholds and and fish wounds
- Keep carp wet on the bank by using a bucket of water
- Use the weigh sling to return the carp top the lake
- Nuts, particles with the exception of sweet corn and seeds are prohibited
- No shelflife boilies – boilies and pellets can be purchased from the lake owner
- Wear a life jacket at all times when using the boat
- No swimming
- Rubbish is to be put in the bins provided
- Drink alcohol in moderation when fishing
- Be respectful of the nature
- Barbless or micro barbed hooks only
- Bent or curved hooks are prohibited
- Equipement and rig checks will be carried out
