A Memorable Fishing Trip to Lake Beauregard: Carp, PBs, and Great Times
Last week, four friends—Nick, Gary, Nathan, and Harvey—set out for an unforgettable fishing adventure at Lake Beauregard, nestled in the picturesque French countryside. Their mission? To land the elusive special Carp the lake is known for. And with 23 fish caught throughout the week, it’s safe to say they were successful—well, almost.
The journey began with excitement in the air and high expectations. But, as with any great fishing adventure, it wasn’t just about the numbers—it was about the stories, the memories, and, of course, the personal bests (PBs) that would go down in history.
The Catch: A Week to Remember
Over the course of the week, the crew racked up an impressive 23 fish. However, things took an interesting turn mid-week as the Carp started spawning, making it more challenging to land a catch. Despite the natural slowdown, the team remained undeterred, showcasing their patience and skill throughout the campaign.
But the week wasn’t just about quantity—it was about quality too. A whopping three personal bests (PBs) were broken, and each moment added a layer of excitement to the trip.
• Gary made his mark with a stunning 54lb 12oz Common Carp, a trophy that will remain a proud memory for years to come.
• Nick, never one to be outdone, landed a 49lb 4oz Common Carp, also breaking his PB and adding a significant achievement to his angling career.
• And then there’s Harvey, the youngest of the group at just 20 years old. Not only did he catch his third PB of the trip, but he topped it off with an incredible 55lb 02oz Common Carp. The energy and excitement that Harvey brought to the group were contagious, and his accomplishment was celebrated as one for the ages.
The Setting: A Home Away from Home
Fishing at Lake Beauregard isn’t just about the catches—it’s about the experience. The facilities were second to none, with the kitchen area being a particular highlight. Whether it was preparing a hearty meal after a long day of fishing or gathering around to swap stories, it provided the perfect space for the group to unwind and enjoy their time together.
Terry, the fishery manager, was always on hand to offer advice, share a laugh, and keep the banter going with the Welsh lads. His friendly and approachable nature made the entire experience even more enjoyable, ensuring the trip wasn’t just about fishing, but about building lasting friendships.
The Tactics: A Winning Combination
When it came to the fishing itself, the group used a blend of tactics that seemed to work perfectly for the conditions. The main strategy involved a mix of boilies and tiger nuts over a bed of maize. This combination provided the right balance to attract the Carp, and the group’s success speaks for itself.
Despite the Carp’s natural rhythms and mid-week spawning slowing things down, the tactical approach, along with their determination and the fantastic environment, ensured the crew had a productive and fun-filled trip.
Final Thoughts: More Than Just a Fishing Trip
The trip to Lake Beauregard was more than just about catching fish; it was about sharing experiences, breaking personal records, and enjoying the camaraderie of good friends. From the world-class facilities and the beautiful surroundings to the banter with Terry, every aspect of the trip added to its magic.
For Nick, Gary, Nathan, and Harvey, it was a week they’ll never forget—and one that will be tough to top. Until next time, Lake Beauregard, we’ll be back for more!
