Lac Du Cygne is a very picturesque 10 acre lake located 2 hours from Calais in the Picardy area. It is best described as a back to basics “drive and survive” lake. Ensure you read the “facilities” tab prior to booking.
Lac Du Cygne is not a difficult lake, so plenty of action should be expected. The lake holds carp to just under 50lbs with catches of 20 to 30 carp per week being common.
In 2008, around 170 carp of around 12 to 15 pounds were stocked. Since 2008 these fish have put on considerable weight and the lake now holds carp to over 40lbs and a very big head of 20s and 30s.
Originally dug for peat, Lac Du Cygne is a shallow lake and it is only 4ft at the deepest. The water quality is superb. There is no weed with the bottom mainly being silt.
Fishing is from one side only as the opposite side is out of bounds. There are no set swims. You can fish from where you like. It is easy to drop rigs to the far side especially if you have a bait boat, casting to the opposite side is approximately 100 yards. Whilst fishing to the far bank is productive the near margins should not be ignored.
The lake is very picturesque and is home to an abundance of wildlife. Up to 4 anglers are allowed at any one time for exclusive bookings.
The owners do not live on site so you will have complete privacy for the duration of your trip. There is a bailiff who looks after the lake and he will visit during your stay. The bailiff may not be able to greet you upon arrival so you will be given the combination for the gate prior to your trip. The site is fenced and completely secure.
