We had a great week at Hunnyfields staying in Hamlets Retreat. The fishing was patchy during the course of the week depending upon weather conditions; which were unusually cold for the time of year. Some days we didn’t catch at all, and on several days we had double runs shortly after casting in!

All of the fish fought incredibly hard, leading us to think we’d attached ourselves to monsters! We caught on standard tactics, bottom baits, pop ups and snowman rigs and half a dozen fish including one of the 38’s came to float fished sweetcorn in the margins.
It was disappointing not to catch more of the 47 carp between 30-57lb’s, but means there’s 45 more of them to after on our next trip!
The lake and grounds are stunning and very peaceful (when the frogs that sound like ducks aren’t croaking!) Steph and Keith are great hosts and lovely people, and there’s a good chance Mickey the dog will adopt you whilst fishing!
