La cour 19-26th April , this was our first time al la cour and although through dream carp we had recieved some info ( as much as they could offer) there was only a small amount of information out there as realistically the lake hasn’t been fished an awful lot . On arrival after being invited into Alan’s house for tea and croissants we all put on our boots and walked over to the lake . The place is kept impeccably well and is an unreal place to spend a week . We saw a couple of fish around the far side but not really a lot to go on , we did the draw and just about managed to get the houses up before the heavens really opened ! Myself and mark were happy just to be dry but Steve proceeded to get the rods out and was rewarded instantly yas by the end of the 2 hour storm he’d bagged three upto mid 30 !
WHAT A START ! once the strorm had start me and mark both got our rods on the spots and were both rewarded before dark with our first La cour carp ! We had all caught before dark and couldn’t be happier ! It didn’t stop there by the morning I myself had 4 carp to upper 40 and Steve was now on 6-7 fish, after a couple of days the fish seemed to get more aware and the action was slowing up so Alan and his wife invited us down to the house for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon , the drinks were flowing and the food was unreal ( still gutted I forgot to ask him for some pat’e and chutney to bring home) it was probably the best thing we could have done as within an hour of being back in the swims there were carp in the nets, by the end of the week beetween us we had had around 35-40 carp upto 57.8 backed up with other 50s of 54 , 53 and 51 along with a load of 40s and 30s .
I’ve been France in excess of 15-20 times and Alan and his wife are comfortably the best hosts I’ve encountered, Alan’s knowledge of the lake is second to none and my advice to anybody would be listen to him and you won’t go far wrong ! After returning and reflecting on the week we all can’t wait to return !
