Étang de Méry is a feature-packed, approximately 45-acre carp lake in Méry-sur-Marne, Seine-et-Marne, around three hours and fifteen minutes from Calais. With mirror carp to approximately 73 lb, commons to around 68 lb and an average size of over 30 lb, it offers experienced anglers the opportunity to target specimen fish within a manageable drive of the Channel ports. There is a venue overview video in the ‘video’ tab.
The lake has 14 swims and accommodates up to 14 anglers. Set within wooded surroundings, this former gravel pit provides plenty to investigate, whether you prefer fishing the margins or using a boat to position your rigs at long range.
A varied lakebed of stone, sand and silt, with depths reaching approximately 23 feet, gives anglers a range of features to explore. Finding suitable spots, observing fish activity and adapting your approach are all part of the appeal.
Weed beds add another dimension to the fishing. The weed is treated and removed as part of ongoing lake maintenance, but anglers should expect some to remain. Étang de Méry is therefore suited to experienced carp anglers who are comfortable identifying clear areas and fishing around weed.
This is a venue for anglers who enjoy working out a water and putting their skills into practice. From exploring the margins to investigating features further out, there is scope to build your own approach throughout the week.
