L’Etang 13 is set in the peaceful Oise department (60) in northern France, surrounded by unspoiled countryside that provides a beautifully calm setting for your fishing holiday. The lake holds around 150 carp, with an average weight close to 40lb and some exceptional specimens reaching over 60lb – including a stunning 28kg (62lb) mirror and a powerful 25kg (55lb) common. The venue is ideally located around 2 hours and 20 minutes from Calais.
The lake is very mature and 7 acres in size. It is a former gravel pit full of character. Depths range from 4 metres (13ft) down to an 14 metres (46ft), offering a variety of contours and features to explore. The lake still retains its original shape from the old workings, with clean slopes and defined levels. On one of these plateaus, sitting at around 4 metres deep, trees once took root during the quarrying years – their remains now form a unique underwater area where many of the lake’s biggest carp are often found. The rest of the water is largely weed-free, making it easy to fish effectively across all areas.
There are three spacious gravel swims, each accessible by car, carefully positioned so that up to three anglers can fish in comfort – close enough for a social trip, but with plenty of room to fish undisturbed.
The venue is just two minutes from the village of Auneuil, where you’ll find a Carrefour supermarket and a small restaurant. The nearby town of Beauvais is only 12 minutes away and offers a full range of shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets and hotels – plus an international airport, ideal for those flying in or travelling light.
A rowing boat is available free of charge, though anglers are welcome to bring their own.
