Domaine La Baronne is located just over three hours’ drive from Calais, south of Paris. This picturesque, tree-lined 17-acre lake is home to around 500 stunning dark carp, including fish up to 67lbs. At least 40 of these weigh over 40lbs, with the average size exceeding 30lbs. A maximum of 10 anglers can fish the lake at any one time.
It is recommended for experienced anglers and it is not uncommon to land 30 or more carp in a week. The lake record for the most carp caught in a week stands at an impressive 67 fish.
Domaine La Baronne is available for both exclusive hire and individual swim bookings.
There are five spacious double swims positioned around the lake. An aerial photo among the images shows their layout. Each swim comfortably accommodates two anglers, features a level surface with woodchip covering, and includes a picnic table. The surroundings are wild and natural, with overhanging trees and wooded banks—there’s no manicured grass here, and on-site facilities are basic. It’s best suited to experienced anglers. While it may not appeal to everyone, Domaine La Baronne has grown a large returning customer base since opening in 2019.
Two of the swims are VIP options featuring wooden chalets with beds and basic amenities. VIP Swim 1 is located on an island, and VIP Swim 2 is lakeside. Access to the island is via a boat provided free of charge by the owner. The island chalet includes two beds and a small kitchen area with a sink and fridge.
The lake’s ‘reserve’ area can also be fished, though a rowing boat is necessary—especially for landing fish near the island. Boats are essential for reaching some areas and are available for hire at a very reasonable rate.
Just a short walk from the lake, you’ll find a hot shower and toilet for added convenience.
Stocking is excellent: around 500 carp in total, including approximately 40 over 40lbs. The largest known fish is a 67lb mirror. There are around 150 carp between 30 and 40lbs, and roughly 300 ranging from 26 to 30lbs.
Water depths range from 3 feet in the shallowest areas to 20 feet in the deepest. The lake is treated with dye to limit weed growth, though patches may still appear in summer and warmer months. Hiring a boat makes locating clear spots for fishing straightforward.
To help anglers maximise their time on the bank, the lake owner offers a twice-weekly supermarket run.
Bookings are Saturday to Saturday
The lake can be booked exclusively or per swim.
Boilies and a mixture of particles can be bought. Please pre order before your trip. All particles must be bought from the lake owner to ensure they are prepared properly and do not put the fish stock at risk.
