Clay Lake 2 is situated less than four hours north of Calais. This historic lake, a former Cassini forest lake dating back 300 years, is now home to impressive fighting carp, with some weighing over 60lbs. Surrounded by tranquil woodland, the lake provides a scenic, wildlife-rich setting ideal for a carp fishing holiday.
The lake covers 5.4 acres and accommodates up to four anglers, offering six spacious swims:
The lake record is held by a stunning common carp, named Patch, weighing in at 61lbs 3oz, along with at least seven other fish over 50lbs and a healthy stock of carp weighing over 40lbs.
The lake’s depths range between 3.5 and 6 feet, with a mostly uniform clay bed interspersed with occasional drop-offs and margin pockets where fish are often found. An old riverbed, about 1.5 to 2 metres wide, runs through the lake from the dam wall to the sluice. There is no weed, hidden snags, crayfish, or poisson chat, ensuring an uninterrupted fishing experience. Both lakes are on private, secure land and closely monitored.
