Carp Quarry is a uniquely stunning 3 acre lake located in Saint-Servais in Brittany which can easily be reached within 90 minutes from nearby ferry ports. There are around 200 carp with a average size carp of over 38lbs as of the end of 2023, a very good head of 40lb plus fish and a few fish topping the 60lb barrier. The lake is hired exclusively and includes a 3 bedroom cottage/ gite which is just 200m from the lake, making it ideal for a family or friends carp fishing holiday.

Carp Quarry is a former working granite quarry which closed in 1938 and is fed by natural underground springs. The lake and surroundings are truly beautiful. As you sit behind your rods, you can gaze up at the 100 feet granite cliffs that rise from the depths of the lake which are home to many species of birds of prey.

All swims are situated along the bank opposite from the cliff face making if perfect for sociable fishing. The swims have been carefully created to accommodate a bivvy. The carp regularly patrol the overhanging trees on the far side of the lake and the swims are set out ensure that all anglers have ample water coverage and access to the cliff face. It is suggested that that the lake is fished by up to 4 anglers.

The lake, gite and surrounding grounds are fully secured with a gated entrance ensuring that you have complete privacy for your trip.

The Swims

Being a former quarry, the lake is very deep with depths ranging from 15 feet up to a staggering 50 feet! The lake bottom consists of mainly rock and gravel with a few areas of silt.

Swim 1

Situated on the a peak on the east hand side of the lake, this swim benefits from treelined cliff faces to both the left and far side and overhanging trees to the right side. The lake bottom gradually declines in depth from a few feet in front of the swim, to 25 feet in the middle and rising up to 15 feet on the far side.

Swim 2

Depths in this swim drop down to 50 feet in the middle with 25 to 30 feet of water immediately in front of you. To the left is an overhanging tree and there is good water coverage to the cliff face on the far side where depths shallow up to around 20 feet.

Swim 3

This a social swim where your neighbours in swims 2 and 4 are close enough for a beer and a chinwag. The depth is around 20 feet on the far side and immediately in front of the swim. A third of the way across the depth drops down to 45 feet before rising to around 35 feet two thirds of the way out towards the cliff face.

Swim 4

In front of the swim is 20 feet of water which drops off to 45 feet a third of the way across and then gradually rising to 35 feet and 30 feet under the cliff face. To the right of the swim are large overhanging trees.

Swim 5

Swim 5 is a double swim which benefits from mature overhanging trees to both the left and right sides. The bank to the righthand side can only to be fished to from the this swim.  Immediately in front and to the right of the swim the depths are between 10 to 15 feet. The majority of the open water is around 35 feet, shallowing up to 25 feet under the cliff face.

Swim 6

Situated halfway along the west bank, swim 6 gives you access to fish the south-west bay. Depths range from 15 to 20 feet of water in front of the swim, around 35 feet in the open water in the bay area and 20 to 25 feet under the cliff face.
