Lac de Camalo is a premium carp water of 14 acres which is home to an exceptional stock of carp, with an average weight of over 40lbs with the largest residents over 70lbs. The lake can fished by a maximum of 6 anglers and can be booked per swim or exclusively. It is located in central France about 5 hours from Calais.

As of 2026 there are 280 carp which are a mixture of mirrors and commons. The average weight as of May 2025 was between 45 to 48lbs.

The lake is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs. The bottom is clay and sand with some areas of gravel and pockets of silt. Depths vary from around 10 feet at the end of the dam to 3 feet in shallower areas. Rowing boats, motors and batteries as well as echo sounders can be hired to help locate spots.

Swims

There are 3 double swims on the lake all along the north bank which are the Kube swim, Cabin Swim and Haven Swim. Each swim has it’s own lodge which can sleep up to 4 people. The lodges can be fished from if you have a receiver and there is also room to accommodate a bivvy. All swims are accessible by car via a gravel track.

Enhancements during winter 2025/26 made ready for the start fo the 2026 season

  • horses from the neighbouring paddock are now fenced in and cannot access any of the grounds of the lake or swims.
  • Full lake draindown and netting to remove all catfish and nuisance fish
  • 67 new carp added
  • snags removed and lake bed excavated by a further 1.2m at the shower end of the lake
  • Swims rebuilt to ensure they are safe a stable

The supermarket and shops are a ten minute drive from the lake.

From mid-November to mid-March, the booking price is reduced by 50%. The sanitary facilities are closed during the low season.

Bookings are made from Saturday to Saturday.

 

Rowing boats can be rented for 70 euros for the week

A electric motor and battery for the boat is 70 Euros

Echo sounder is 35 Euros

 

 

A selection of bait is available to purchased on site which includes:

Boilies which are made for the lake owner
Extra hard hook bait boilies
Maize, wheat, hemp, tiger nuts
pellets

A food package is available and can be delivered to the lake. It includes a continental breakfast and a freshly cooked dinner.

Breakfast is delivered between 9am and 10am, dinner between 7pm and 8pm.

Reservations must be made at least 1 week before arrival.

– A waste tax of €5 per person is payable on arrival. It must be left at the reception point of each lake, where there is a collection point indicated by the owner. Recycling is compulsory.

-A cleaning, disinfection and bed linen charge of €50 is compulsory. To be paid on arrival for rentals with accommodation only.

-A dog tax of €10 is payable on arrival for rentals with accommodation only.

-Some fishing spots are not accessible by vehicle all year round, so please check before you come. Once you have unloaded your vehicle, it will remain in the lake car park.

-Bait boats are permitted.

-Personal rowing boats are not permitted. You can only use those on the lake by renting them. Please reserve them in advance.

-Swimming in the lake is prohibited.

Only fish-friendly rigs are permitted; fixed lines are forbidden.

Use only micro-barb hooks.

-Mono main line is compulsory; braided main line is not permitted.

-Lead leaders are not permitted.

-Tubes must always be used.

-A maximum of 3 rods per angler. (additional rods €10/rod/day with the owner’s agreement).

-Each angler must have a landing net of at least 40 inches, a weighing strap and a large carp mat. Weighing cradles are not permitted.

-All fish must be unhooked, weighed and photographed in the water. It is forbidden to take fish out of the water.

-Apply carp care kit to hooks.

Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. The abuse of alcohol and the consumption of narcotics is prohibited.

-Do not leave rubbish in your bath.

-Be considerate of other anglers.

-Well behaved dogs are allowed.

-Open fires are prohibited.

-Barbecues are permitted if they are raised off the ground.

-The lake is under video surveillance.

-Failure to comply with these rules may result in early dismissal from the lake without refund.

-For rented accommodation a deposit will be required on arrival in cash or by pay pal. Please plan ahead before your arrival.

-In the event of early departure on your part no refund will be made.

-ARRIVALS ARE ONLY FROM 14:00, in case of delay please inform us.

-Departures are at 10.00 am
