Les Ravalieres

Les Ravalieres is located in the beautiful Pays de la Loire region and is an ideal venue for a family fishing holiday. It is owned by Lel and Jon who relocated to France from the UK in 2018.

Set in acres of private landscaped gardens, Lel and Jon have lovingly restored the original gatehouse into a luxury gite that can sleep up to 6 people. The gite is just a stones throw away from the mature 3 acre estate lake with carp to 50lbs. Outside the gite is a spacious patio area for relaxing and dining as well as a private swimming pool and hot tub. Click on the ‘facilities’ tab for full details of the accommodation.

For those that enjoy a massage, there is a very good local masseuse that can be booked and will visit the gite so you can enjoy the massage from the comfort of your holiday home.

A drive and survive package is also offered if you do not require accommodation.

Les Ravalieres is easily accessible from major ferry ports. It is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes drive from St Malo, 2 and a half hours from Caen, 3 hours from le Havre and 5 hours from Calais.

The lake is 3 acres in size and is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs overhanging the margins. There are two islands roughly in the centre of the lake as well as lilly pads providing ample features to fish to. The lake bed is a mixture of clay and silt with some firmer areas which can be located with a marker rod. Depths range from a couple of feet to 5 feet in the deeper area of the lake towards the damm end.

There are 3 swims on the lake and it is limited to a maximum of 3 anglers to ensure that each angler has plenty of water coverage to fish a 3 rod set up. Landing nets, unhooking mats and weighing slings are provided. Please do not bring your own.

The Gite

The gite can sleep up to 6 adults and offers stunning views over the lake and orchard.

Upstairs are 2 large bedrooms and a spacious bathroom. Each bedroom has a super king size bed and a single bed. The super king size can be converted into 2 single beds if 3 single beds in one bedroom is required. Each bedroom has large velux windows in the ceiling which are all fitted with external electric volet shutters. Both bedrooms have USB charging points.

The bathroom has a shower, illuminated mirror, toilet, double sink and heated towel rail.

Downstairs is a kitchen diner, utility room, lounge and second bathroom. There is underfloor heating downstairs.

The kitchen has been refurbished and is fully equipped including; dishwasher, fridge, microwave, hob, oven, toaster, pots, pans, cutlery, cooking utensils, filter coffee maker. The dining area of the kitchen has a large dining table and chairs. The kitchen also has USB charging points.

The lounge has a comfortable corner sofa, coffee and side tables and a TV with English channels.

Free WiFi is available throughout the gite.

The downstairs bathroom as a walk-in shower, mirror and sink. There is a toilet in a separate room.

The utility room contains a washing machine, iron, ironing board, clothes airer as well as a large fridge freezer for food and drinks.

Electricity, water, bed linen and towels (including tea towels) are included. In the colder months for the year there is a daily fee for heating.

Outside

The french patio doors in the lounge lead out onto a large terrace with table and chairs, a BBQ and a 5 person jacuzzi. Beyond the terrace area is the upper garden where there is a private swimming pool and garden area for you to enjoy.

There is secure on-site parking next to the gite.

Prices:

The jacuzzi can only be used when booking the gite. There is a charge of €60 in cash on arrival.

Exclusive drive and survive: €750 – non anglers are €70. During the low season exclusive drive and survive is €450. Please send an enquiry if you wish to book drive and survive.

For the drive and survive package please note that non anglers are welcome. It must be limited to 1 non angler per angler. If your non angling partner is only coming just to ‘drink’ then this is not permitted. Les Ravalieres is a family venue and there may be other guests staying in the gite and any anti social behavior will not be tolerated.

Local Attractions

Livré-la-Touche – only 5km from Les Ravalières is the local village. Enjoy riverside walks or a coffee or beer from the bar/ restaurant

There are some amazing places to walk or cycle and enjoy the countryside around the local area. The owners offer free drop off and pickup.

At Cosse-le-Vivien is the Voie Verte which is just a short drive.This is an old railway line that has been converted into a track which is now used for walking, cycling and horse riding. You would join the route at Laval and it runs all the way to Renaze passing through some beautiful countryside. Please find a link to a map of the route Voie Verte. The owners can offer a free pick up and drop off.

La-Rincerie is a large lake with plenty of activities including water sports, 9 hole golf, mini golf, archery and more. There plenty of space of picnics and BBQs.

Escape-Cross at La Rincerie – Cycle hire plus puzzles to solve on the route

Cossé-le-Vivien  – Only 7km from Les Ravalières which is a small town which has 3 bars, banks, pharmacy, bakeries as well as a butchers, pizzeria and post office. Thre is a town square which hosts a small market on Wednesdays.

Craon  –  Only 9km from Les Ravalières. Visit Craon chateau which has extensive beautiful gardens and a horse racings/ trotting course. In Craon there are 2 large supermarkets, SuperU an Aldi.

L’Orbiere – Woodland Activity Park which is about 30 minutes drive. There’s lots of activities including, horse riding, boating and canoeing, archery and ‘go ape’ style tree house course.

The historic town of Laval  is about 20 mins drive. The river Mayenne flows through the centre. Laval is a great place to enjoy the beautiful scenery, building as well as cafes and restaurants.
