Kingfisher Lake at Puyravaud offers the perfect retreat for anglers aiming to land seriously big carp to well over 60lbs, while also catering to families seeking luxurious accommodation, a purpose-built swimming pool, and the tranquillity of the stunning natural surroundings.
Located in south west France it is west of Limoges. The closest ferry ports are St Malo and Caen both over which are around a 5 hours drive.
A fly and fish package is offered including tackle hire. Tackle hire is also available if you are driving and wish to save space in your vehicle.
The lake is 2.75 acres, surrounded by trees, offering a peaceful and secluded setting. It can be dated back to the 1700s. There are around 45 carp of which 3 are over 60lbs and the average weight is around 45lbs.
The accommodation which is optional is beautiful stone barn conversion which can accommodate up to 5 guests. Refer to the ‘facilities’ tab for detail information on the accommodation and swimming pool.
Kingfisher Lake can be fished by up to 4 anglers and there are 3 swims to each of which commands ample water coverage.
The Swims
Willow Island:
This spacious double swim is located at the dam wall end of the lake. The fishing depths reach up to 12 feet, and the swim’s key feature is a small island positioned 30 metres ahead.
The Point:
Situated centrally, this swim provides access to most areas of Kingfisher Lake. Depths typically range between 5 and 7 feet, and from the left-hand side of the swim, anglers can target the Willow Island area.
The Feed:
Located nearest to the house, this single swim is positioned at the lake’s inlet. It is the shallowest swim, with a depth of around 4 feet, benefiting from a continuous flow of water and promising excellent catches.
Travel Information – Fly and Fish
Affordable flights are available from Stansted, Manchester, East Midlands, and Southampton to either Limoges or Poitiers airports. The closest airport is Limoges, with a travel time of approximately 45 minutes to Puyravaud, while Poitiers is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away.

Booking the lake on it’s own is £1550. The accommodation and use of the swimming pool is an additonal £550
Bookings run from Saturday to Saturday
Airport collection for a maximim of 4 people is £250 for a round trip
High-quality equipment for hire at a cost of £150. This includes:
- Fox bivvy
- Bed chair and day chair
- Sleeping bag (sanitised after every use)
- 3 rods
- 3 Fox reels with 15lb line
- Rod pod with alarms
- Landing net
- Unhooking mat
- Weigh sling, scales, and tripod
- Bivvy table and lantern
The venue prides itself in offering home-cooked meals made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. They will cater to specific dietary needs and offer meal plans on a daily or weekly basis.
Please inform the venue in advance if you require a food package. Note that we do not offer full meal plans during the summer months. Evening meals are designed for convenience, allowing anglers to continue fishing uninterrupted. Meals are served in thermal containers for ease of consumption.
To ensure a safe and sustainable fishing environment, all anglers must adhere to the following regulations:
- Only bait purchased from Puyravaud is permitted to maintain fish health and diet consistency.
- A maximum of three rods per angler with a minimum line strength of 15lb.
- Only micro-barbed hooks (size 6 max) are allowed.
- Only semi-fixed leads using a safety clip system may be used.
- Rods must never be left unattended.
- Fish must be landed using a net and lifted from the water with a weigh sling to avoid damage.
- Anglers under 18 must be supervised at all times unless deemed experienced.
- Carp sacks are prohibited, and fish must be returned to the water immediately after weighing and photography.
- Anglers must remain kneeling when handling fish.
- Any fish over 45 lbs must only be photographed in the water.
- Fish must be handled with care, given recovery time before release, and treated with antiseptic where necessary.
- If using the boat for line retrieval, life jackets must be worn at all times. Failure to comply will result in immediate removal from the fishery.
- All waste must be disposed of responsibly using the bins provided.
- Noise levels should be kept to a minimum to respect fellow guests and neighbours.
- Landing nets, weigh slings, and unhooking mats are provided and must be used properly. Any damage will incur replacement charges.
- Night fishing is not permitted on the last night of your stay.
- Hire gear must be returned to the designated area by 7:00 pm on the final day.
- A full inventory check of hired equipment will be conducted, and any damages must be paid for.
