La Petite Martiniere is an intimate and very picturesque 1.3 acre lake, located in Pays de la Loire region of north west France.
The lake is ideal for up to 2 anglers. In addition to exclusive fishing guests have use of the wooden chalet and hot tub with view across the lake. The chalet has a sofa bed, bathroom and kitchen area. There are around 100 carp, which are a mixture of original and new fish up to around 45lbs. Please note that fishing from the cabin is not permitted due to its location relative to the swims.
The banks are lined with a mixture of mature trees and shrubs as well as some reed lined margins. For anglers that also enjoy some stealthy daytime stalking, this lake will not disappoint. Lower your rig in, sit back and wait for the reel to start spinning!
There are 5 swims, 3 of which can accommodate a bivvy, with the other 2 ideal daytime stalking swims. The swims have gravel bases and WiFi connectivity. The middle swim being a double which allows 2 anglers to comfortably fish to almost all areas of the lake. Given it is an intimate water, the majority of spots are well within casting distance, however a bait boat will come in useful for dropping rigs, particularly close to overhanging trees which are a tricky cast.
The lake bed is made up of gravel, clay, and silt and offers anglers a diverse array of features and depths to fish to. The lake owner Matt, is very experienced and will be available to offer advice should you wish.

We understand that nobody enjoys sifting through pages of rules, so we’ll keep this brief and to the point, focusing on ensuring the well-being of our fish and making your holiday experience enjoyable for everyone.
TACKLE & EQUIPMENT:
It may seem obvious, but it’s worth a reminder that all anglers must ensure their equipment is in good condition. We provide landing nets, unhooking mats, slings, water buckets, and antiseptic for your use while on-site. Please ensure the rest of your tackle is clean, dry, and specifically suitable for carp fishing to minimize any potential issues during your stay. Here are a few key points to check before arrival:
– All guides (eyes) on your rods must be in good condition.
– Reel seats should fit securely with no movement, and reels must be correctly fitted.
– Reel drag systems (bait runners and front drag) must function smoothly and be set up correctly.
– Braided mainline is not permitted, and a minimum of 18lb line is required for carp fishing.
– Prologic mimicry line is available on-site in 1000m spools.
– All mainline must be in good condition to prevent snap-offs where possible, otherwise, it will need to be replaced.
– Carp should only be retained in the slings provided whilst preparing weighing and photography equipment
RIG RULES & GUIDANCE:
Ensuring rig safety and fish care is paramount. While there are various opinions on rig mechanics, here are the rules and guidance specific to our lake:
– Rig components must work together so that only the hooklink remains with the fish in case of a snap-off.
– Rig tubing of at least 40cm must be used on the mainline if you’re not using a leader setup.
– Helicopter rigs are permitted but must be checked by us before use.
– Chod rigs and zig rigs are not allowed due to the risk of foul-hooking fish.
– Surface fishing is prohibited due to the absence of tubing or leader material to protect fish from cuts from the mainline.
– Lead core is not permitted.
HOOKS & HOOKLINKS:
In our lake’s environment, various hook and bait setups are effective. Here are the guidelines for hooks and hooklinks:
– Only barbless or crushed micro barbed hooks are allowed.
– Long shank hooks or extensive shrink tube are not permitted.
– Swivels should not be attached to the hook, only hooklink material.
– Only particle and tiger nuts prepared on-site may be used. No other nuts are allowed, and tiger nuts are for hook bait only.
