Located in the south of France in the Midi Pyrenees region, Cavagnac Lake which is also known as “Etang de Bournazel” can only be described as one of the most incredible carp lakes. With a stock of over a 1000 carp to a gigantic 85lbs and with a huge head of 40s and 50lbs, Cavagnac Lake really is the home of the monster carp!

But what makes Cavagnac Lake so special and keeps anglers returning year after year is the magic of this lake and its surroundings. Set in acres of beautiful French countryside, watch the sun rise and mist roll over the lilly pads, enjoy the stunning views of the historic Château of Bournazel in the distance and you wait for your alarm to scream off!

Whilst it is 52 acres in size, due to the lakes irregular shape with bays and peninsulas it does not feel like a huge expanse of water with much of the action at close range.

There is a main body of water and three distinct arms to the lake which is fed by 3 natural springs. There are 16 swims on the lake, 3 of which can only be accessed by boat, ensuring vast water coverage for each angler. 12 of the swims are double swims and 4 swims for single anglers. Whilst there are swims for a maximum of 26 anglers, the lake will be limited to a maximum of 19 at any time. Click on ‘availability and reservations’ to see a map of the lake and descriptions of each swims.

Location and all inclusive fly and fish package

Cavagnac Lake is located just 1km from the historic village of Bournazel in southern France. Due to the lake being so far south, driving to the lake is around 11 hours drive from Calais. For UK anglers an optional all inclusive ‘fly and fish’ package is offered which allows you to maximise fishing time and generally works out cheaper than driving due to the saving in fuel costs.
