Moorlands Fisheries is located in the Burgundy Region in East Central France, approximately 6 hours drive from Calais, and is an idyllic 14 acre carp lake set in 33 acres of private woodland. The carp stock will not disappoint with over forty 50lbs plus fish, five over 60lbs and two fish that have been caught over the 70lb mark.

There are 18 carefully thought out swims around the lake, however a maximum of 10 anglers are permitted to fish at anyone time. This means everyone has vast water coverage and the option to move swims during the course of their stay. The swims range from very comfortable open swims to smaller intermate swims which will allow you to get closer to nature.

Moorlands Fisheries is limited to 10 anglers this also gives an excellent opportunity for some under the rod tip stalking during the day in some of the quieter areas of the lake.

Upon arrival the lake owners will give you advise on where the fish have been feeding and recent captures to help you make the best choice of swim. It is recommended that you arrive on Friday night so that you have to opportunity to speak with the departing anglers to pick up tips of where to fish and how much bait to apply. Arriving on the Friday also means that you can drive down in the daylight.

Whilst you will benefit from advice from the fishery owners and departing anglers, the fish at Moorlands give signs of their location by head and shouldering and bubbling and clouding up the water when they are on the feed.

There are no permanent ‘flying swims’ week on week. The carp regularly move around every area of lake due to weather conditions or angling pressure. There are lily pads around the lake which as you would expect are productive areas. All of the central lily pad have been planted in smooth plastic bins meaning it is much harder for the carp to bury themselves in the roots. If they can round the back of the pads, generally lines can easily be untangled with a little help from the lake owners.
