Mirror Pool Fisheries is situated within the Limousin region of Central France, approximately 430 miles from Calais. Established in 1998 it has a reputation for big carp and recognises what English anglers have come to expect from a carp fishing trip to France.
The lake is available for bookings between April to the end of October. During the close period the carp are fed on pellets which has proved to be critical to having consistent weight gains season after season.
Mirror Pool
Mirror Pool is a 4 acre mature lake set in private woodlands near to Bessines Sur Gartempt, which is twenty minutes north of Limoges. It is available for exclusive hire for 4 anglers and is stocked with 130 carp to in excess of 70lbs!
It is a truly tranquil place to fish and you would be excused for believing that there was not another person for miles around. Due to its size and almost magical beauty it is often compared to probably the most famous lake in carp fishing history, Redmire Pool. Gaze up the stars on a clear evening and you can hear the sounds of the wild boar and deer that roam the woodlands as you wait for one of your rods to scream off!
Originally created with the objective of being one of the very best small water fisheries in France, this has certainly been achieved and you will not be disappointed.
To ensure you make the most of your trip to Mirror Pool there are bailiffs to meet you on arrival and to give you tips and advice throughout your stay. Night fishing is permitted and the lake has secure fences all the way around the perimeter, including the car park which has ample space to make your vehicles.
There are purpose build swims thoughtfully positioned around the lake, all having good water coverage. Each swim has flat ground and can all easily accommodate a 2 man bivvy. A shower and toilet is conveniently located on the lake bank. If you wish to bring your partner then non-fishing wives and girlfriends can go free of charge.
The lake bed has been removed of all snags. It consists of mainly gravel with silt pockets with depths varying from 2ft at the shallowest end of the lake to 20ft at the damn end (see the lake map in the photos). As with any lake, exploring the bottom with a marker rod is beneficial so don’t forget it. All weed has been removed as well as “possoin chat”, American Catfish.
