Le Croix is a mature 4 acre lake with lakeside accommodation located in Montrollet which is in the Charente department in Southwestern France. The nearest airport is Limoges which is a short distance away and the nearest ferry port is Caen which is approximately 4 and half hours drive.

The owners of Le Croix have created the perfect balance of superb carp fishing with superb facilities. This venue is ideal for couples, families and friends looking to combine serious carp fishing with luxurious facilities for relaxation which include a swimming pool, Sky HD tv and a fully equipped lakeside gite. If that was not enough there is an all inclusive airport package, optional 5 star food package as well as bait and end tackle available to purchase on-site.

The carp stock is quite incredible with the average weight now in excess of 40lbs as well as 11 different 50s and 3 carp over the 60lb barrier! Les Croix is for experienced anglers only.

Fishing is restricted to between the hours of 6am and 10pm and the lake has been run this way since 2011. The fact the lake has no angling pressure at night time is testament to how good the fishing can be in the day time. Why not enjoy catching some seriously huge carp in the day time and then relax in the evening. Enjoy some home cooking, eat from a table, have a glass of wine or 2 and sleep in a comfy bed.

As many guests of Le Croix are couples, very often the lake just has one angler fishing for the week. When you compare this to many other carp fisheries in France the lake is relatively unpressured which is just one of the reasons that the carp are in such pristine condition and continue to gain weight season after season. It is not surprising that 80 percent of guests are returning visitors.

The lake can be fished from two large gravel swims which are on the on the same side as the lake as the gite. Whilst night fishing is not permitted, bivvies can still be set up in the designated swims.

Depths range from around 4 foot at the inlet to the approximately 8 feet in the centre. The marginal depths vary around the lake and can be productive spots so should definitely not be ignored.

The lake bed consists of a mixture of stone, quartz, clay and sand. In the centre of the lake is a shallow area of silt. There is no weed and all snags have been removed.

Fishing short sessions with regular baiting is a tactic that works well.

The lake is fenced (2 metres) all the way round and gates are locked at all times to ensure complete privacy and security of guests. The lake owners are on site at all times so if you wish to go out on day trips then you have peace of mind of the security of your tackle and other belongings.

Le Croix is limited to a maximum of 2 anglers fishing the lake at any one time. The gite can sleep up to 6 people, 2 anglers and 4 non fishing guests.
