Etang Le Fays is in the heart of the Champagne-Ardennes region of France only a four-hour drive from Calais. The lake is 17 acres, surrounded by woodland holds carp up to 72lbs.

The lake offers drive and survive fishing but also offers the option of hiring a lakeside cabin situated in swim 1, which is perfect is you fancy a spot of luxury or are taking your partner with you.

Prices start from £390 per week per angler (fishing without food package). If you’d like the inclusive food package, you can fish and eat for £495 per week.

Your fishing adventure at Etang Le Fays will start at noon on the Saturday of your choosing. You’ll be met by Mark, the owner. Mark will provide you with a free drink of your choosing and something to eat. He will introduce you to the lake and the surroundings. After this introduction, the draw for swims will take place.

Etang Le Fays has a lot of carp. The lake is stocked with 500 plus commons, mirrors, leathers and grass carp. There is a healthy stock of 20lb, 30lbs, 40lbs and 50lbs carp. There are several carp over the 60lb mark with the largest resident last caught at a massive 72lbs.

Etang Le Fays is also home to two catfish, one is over 150lbs. There’s also pike to 25lbs and roach, rudd and tench to a reasonable size too. There is also a smaller lake that has carp in it up to 12lbs, perfect for a spot of floating fishing during your week-long stay.

All of the guests at Etang Le Fays have full use of the facilities, please be respectful when you use them. Also, we can provide several helpful services too, more on these below. Our facilities include:

  • Toilets and showers

The chalet is a comfortable place to relax and unwind in the forest. If you are after comfort while enjoying your fishing, the chalet provides all the comfort you could need during your fishing adventure.

The chalet has been designed to sleep two people comfortably. It is set over two floors and has a double sofa bed for the nights when you want to fish through the night. The upstairs of the chalet has a king-size bed and all of the fresh linen and towels you could want. Mosquito netting has been fitted over the windows for those hot summer evenings when you want sleep with the window open. It also has a completely equipped kitchen with an electric oven, 4 ring hob, sink, fridge and ample storage. The breakfast bar offers stunning views over the lake too. Plus, there is a TV with Freeview channels and DVD facilities for those nights that you want to relax and unwind. If you fancy really relaxing during your stay in the chalet, there is a wonderful decking area to relax, sunbathe and unwind on.

The price for the chalet is 550 euros per week, on a self-catering basis, this doesn’t include fishing.

There is an abundance of wildlife at Etang Le Fays, and so we have opened up the area in front of the chalet so you can enjoy it. You can enjoy the wild birds fishing and feeding and singing at dawn, it is one of the best ways to start an early morning! If you’re really lucky, you might even spot a kingfisher, buzzards, kites or woodpeckers who nest in the surrounding forest. If you have a passion for wildlife, bring your camera, you won’t leave Etang Le Fays disappointed.

Anglers who wish to rent the chalet will have access to peg 1. This is the swim on the damn. There is also the chalet swim too. Peg 1 can only be used by 1 angler, but the other angler in your party could use the chalet swim if they wish. Whilst fishing the lake from peg 1 or the chalet swim, eating at the chalet is permitted. However, you must have a remote alarm with you at all times. If you are fishing overnight, again, you must use a remote alarm and must be fishing the chalet swim and be sleeping on the sofa bed. If you wish to do this, please speak with Mark and discuss the arrangements prior to booking.

If you do rent the chalet and wish to fish other swims, this is possible.
